Sale-A-Brate Good Times, Come On!

Aw, look at this cute little Frog Prince.  He is part of a great Sale-a-bration set that is available to earn with a $50 Stampin' Up! product purchase.  This is a birthday card sure to make someone smile.  It's a birthday card for my brother.  This is the type of "guy card" that I make.  This is is.  This is as masculine as my style gets.  And I guarantee you that it will make him laugh - so it's a win!  I'm using something old(ish), something new...you get it.  With Stampin' Up! products, it is so easy to mix and match products that you can create a card in no time.  So let's talk about this frog a bit, shall we?

You will need:
  • Card base in Lemon Lime Twist, 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2";
  • Three pieces of Whisper White Thick cardstock, 2 3/8" square, 2 3/4" x 4", and 4" x 5 1/4";
  • Scrap piece of Mossy Meadow, as small as 2 1/2" square;
  • Scrap piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP), 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"
  • Various SU tools, all mentioned below

I used Stampin' Write markers to color this card.  Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz, Crushed Curry and Basic Gray. The frogs and flies stamps are from the So Hoppy Together set, and the sentiment is from the Hand Delivered set, and finally the stamp that appears to be a sliver of ground is from the Waterfront set.  That should prove to you that these supplies are uber-versatile!

Images are stamped in black and since we are using water-based markers, choose the ink that you like best.  I have speckled the stamped white pieces a bit with ink from the black Stampin' Blends Marker.  I also used a touch of Wink of Stella on the flies' wings.  It's not something that photographs well, but it can be easily seen on the actual card.  The ground on the inside of the card was a third generation stamp in Gray Granite.  That means that I inked the stamp, then stamped it two times on a scrap paper, and stamped on my final cardstock the third time.  This is a very useful technique for getting different shades from the same ink pad.

The front stamped square is glued onto the dark Mossy Meadow scalloped square, and then the whole thing is popped up on Dimensionals.

Finally I added Googly Eyes!  Not required, but definitely a great finishing touch.
