Creating with Designer Designer Series Paper - yes you read that right!

I took my inspiration for these cards from the most current Stampin' Up! Demonstrator magazine 'Stampin' Success' (page 6) and I love it!  The concept is to take SU!s already-great designer series paper (DSP) and "amp it up" with additional texture, color, or other technique to create "DDSP".  Today I've chosen to coat our Mercury Glass acetate with a partially stenciled image using our decorative masks and shimmery embossing paste.

Card supplies:  Card base in Poppy Parade or Granny Apple Green, 4 1/2" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  Insert cut from Whisper White Thick, with #2 stitched rectangle die.  Card front consists of 1 piece of card stock, either Poppy Parade or Granny Apple Green, and 1 piece of the Mercury Glass Acetate, both measuring 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".  Using our brick and mortar decorative mask and our offset spatula, spread a small amount of the shimmery embossing paste across the shiny side of the acetate.  You can cover as much or as little as you'd like, but remember that you want some empty spaces so the cardstock can show through.  After you've spread the paste, set aside to dry for about an hour.  Once dry, attach some glue dots to the back and attach to the corresponding card front.

Then stamp and punch or cut out your images.  I used the beautiful Christmas Gleaming bundle which includes a fabulous stamp set and 2 punches.  You will have to fussy cut the holly and berries image but don't worry, it's easy.  Stamp the ornament images with Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Classic Stampin' Pads, and stamp the holly and berries with Memento black ink.  Color the holly and berries with Granny Apple and Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends markers.  I went over the berries with Wink of Stella for even more shimmer.

Now to assemble - lots of glue dots!  Adhere the ornaments directly to the front with glue dots.  Tuck the holly and berries image in between two of the ornaments.  Cut 3 pieces of Whisper White Baker's Twine and tie knot into the ends.  Use a glue dot to attach the knotted ends to each ornament, then pull the twine taut and tape to the back of the cardstock with any adhesive (I used scotch tape).  Finally, pop everything up on Stampin' Dimensionals and you have a stunning card.

Easily stamp the insert with Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green, and Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink.  Adhere to the inside of your card, sign and send.

The following cards use a lot of the same techniques, but here I've colored the shimmery embossing paste with a bit of Pretty Peacock ink from a reinker, and then I've applied it directly to dsp from the Brightly Gleaming suite of products.  The card bases are Pretty Peacock, 4 1/2" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  The card fronts are Very Vanilla 4" x 5 1/4", and the dsp layer 3 3/4" x 5".  I made the frames from the beautiful Noble Peacock foil and Ornate Frames Dies, a bit of our Old Olive/Pretty Peacock reversible ribbon and there you go.  Two more fantastic examples of our DDSP technique!
